13th One Book, One Bakersfield, One Kern Read

The One Book Project was led by the Kern County Library and California State University, Bakersfield’s First Year Experience Program. A juvenile companion title was offered, Pelitos by Sandra Cisneros as well. The author presented on two days, with funding for the second day underwritten by the Bakersfield City School District Migrant Ed and English Learners Division units. In the second appearance, the author talked informally with families from the BCSD Migrant Education Program.
