15th One Book, One Bakersfield, One Kern Read

The One Book Project was led by the Kern County Library and California State University, Bakersfield’s First Year Experience Program. A youth edition was also offered of Enrique’s Journey. The title surrounded the true story of Enrique, a Honduran boy who makes a perilous journey to America in 2000, after 8 failed attempts to reunite with his mother. Based on journalist Sonia Nazario’s Pulitzer Prize-winning articles series about children migrating to the U.S. atop trains from Central America.
