Kern County Library

The Kern County Library expresses gratitude for the community’s understanding and patience during the temporary closure of library branches, funded by the Building Forward Library Infrastructure Grant administered by the California State Library. 

Thanks to the Budget Act of 2021, Senate Bill 129, The Building Forward Library Infrastructure Grant awarded $12.8 million for safety upgrades and infrastructure improvements. During these closures, certain libraries will undergo upgrades specifically to address life-safety and critical maintenance needs. These closures gives us time to make these changes and create a more inviting space for the community.

We look forward to reopening the doors with enhanced infrastructure, providing an even better visitor experience for our library patrons.

While the physical library is closed, the digital collection remains accessible 24/7 to all Kern County residents. This includes eBooks, eAudiobooks, streaming content, and more at kerncountylibrary.org/elibrary.
