Please contact your Local Branch for more information on Volunteer Opportunities. We appreciate your interest in volunteering for the Kern County Library!

If you are interested in volunteering at the Beale Memorial Library exclusively, check out current volunteer listings at the Beale’s Volunteer Page!

I want to…Share My Skills

Are you interested in sharing your skills with an audience? The Kern County Library is the perfect place to share skills, such as crafting, arts, writing, and even presentations on a particular topic. The volunteer will develop a set of workshops that introduces library customers to the skill. In the past, volunteers have taught American Sign Language, Creative Writing, Quilting, Origami creation, given presentations on health and nutrition American Citizenship Classes, and more. As long as your are interested in sharing your skill with the Kern County Library and the public, we have a place for you!

Are you…Tech Savvy?

The Kern County Library is always in need of Computer Coaches, volunteers who understand all the necessary information to operate a computer, the internet, and basic programs (including Microsoft Word and Excel). Since today’s age is so technologically driven, it can be a major detriment not having these skills. As a Computer Coach, a volunteer will help those customers navigate computers and close that gap.

I want to…Shelve Books

With such a large collection, the Kern County Library is always needing shelving help at its larger branches. This includes sorting, shelving, and organizing materials, including Adult Fiction Titles, Audiovisual Materials, Children’s Books, Teen Books, and Adult Nonfiction Books.

Do you…Love History?

At the Beale Memorial Library, in the Local History Room, volunteers are always needed to assist with filing, sorting, and indexing newspaper clippings and other local history materials. Depending on interest level, a volunteer may even be scheduled to help work the public desk in the Local History Room to assist library customers with finding information about Kern County history.
