Ask a Librarian Chat

Use the Ask a Librarian Chat for live communication with a Kern County Library reference librarian. The chat is available Tuesday through Saturday from 12pm to 5pm. You may leave questions for us when we are offline and we will answer if you include your email address. You may also contact us by phone or email; please see the main Ask a Librarian page.

Important Note: Using your web browser's refresh button or navigating away from this page while chatting will end your session and you will need to start a new one.

To use the chat:

• Type your message in the small white box at the bottom where you see the message "Type here" and press enter to send it.
• The chat application will beep when you receive a reply. To disable this, click the speaker icon on the bottom left of the chat window. Click it again to re-enable.

Forgot your PIN or library card number? Your PIN number is usually the last four digits of your phone number.  If that doesn’t work, please call the Circulation Desk: 661-868-0760.  Your library card number is never given out over the phone or via IM Chat.
