Research & Reference
The Library subscribes to databases which
include full-text newspaper, magazine, journal, and
encyclopedia articles as well as special reports on
current events not found on the Internet. PowerSearch
enables you to search many of theses research databases
with one search. Databases subscription content and
access
are subject to change. With
few exceptions, home access to these databases is
available with your library
card and PIN. For
each category, links to selected websites are included
when applicable.

- Bakersfield Californian (NewsBank) - Full-text articles from February 2003 to current. Also available in an Electronic Image Edition (exact digital reproduction of print version).
- Hot Topics and Special Reports - October topics: Swine Flu, Toyota Recall, Samoan Earthquake and Tsunami, Health Care, Elections in Germany, VMA Awards, and more. Prepared daily by the NewsBank staff.
- Informe - Full-text articles from Spanish magazines and news.
- Litfinder - Over 135,000 full-text poems, stories, and plays with author biographies, criticism, and images.
- America's Newspapers - Full-text articles from 730 U.S. newspapers.
- Opposing Viewpoints
Resource Center - Pro and con essays on
hot social issues from magazines, scholarly
journals, primary source documents, images,
news services, podcasts, statistics and links
to websites.
